My process for each piece was first figure out the size I wanted for my drawing and then figure out what size of each organ was so I could plan to cut the mirrors to be large enough. To ensure I didn’t waste a ton of glass I did a few practice cuts until I was sort of confident, I could cut the glass into squares. From two medium sized mirrors I only ended up with only 7 usable mirrors and lots of broken glass. I added gold ornate frames onto the mirrors to serve as a reminder of those old cheesy family pictures that are in most houses only it isn’t what's expected. For X-Ray I projected the images I took and edited onto my hardboard and roughly traced the silhouette and background before drawing in the skeleton several times to get it correct. Using gouache to get the base colours I blocked out areas before going on to oil pastels.
My two artworks explore the identity of being human through what we have inside a glimpse into what keeps us alive. The body is a living room in a way because it houses our skeleton and organs; we are a living room.
